Russia claims to have destroyed 351 Ukrainian drones overnight

Russia’s Defence Ministry stated on Monday (24/8) that its air defence systems had intercepted and destroyed 351 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over its territory overnight.

The ministry also said that Russian forces continued to carry out attacks throughout the night using precision weapons launched from the air and attack drones against Ukrainian ports and vessels suspected of being involved in transporting cargo for the military.

The European Commission on Monday approved new defence procurement worth €6.1 billion (1 euro = Rp20,661) for Ukraine, covering air and missile defence systems, missiles, ammunition, and radar.

The Commission said the latest approval was in addition to a previously approved procurement plan worth €16 billion, of which €8.35 billion has already been disbursed.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on Monday morning local time that European Council President Antonio Costa and British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, who is making his first foreign visit as prime minister, had arrived in Kyiv.
