Russia–China Friendship Pact Becomes the Foundation of Modern Relations
Moscow (ANTARA) – The Treaty on Good-Neighbourliness and Friendship and Cooperation between Russia and China has served as a long-term foundation for the modern relationship between the two countries, according to a joint statement by Russia and China. The joint statement, published on the Russian government’s website, calls for a further strengthening of the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation in deepening good-neighbourliness, friendship, and bilateral cooperation. “Based on the positive experience of Russia-China relations for centuries and the universal recognition of international law principles and norms, the treaty has laid down a long-term legal foundation for the modern relationship between Russia and China,” the statement said. The relationship between Russia and China is not bloc-based or confrontational, nor is it directed at any third country. It is also stated that the relationship between the two countries is developed on the basis of respect for copyright and the principle of non-interference in each other’s internal affairs. The joint statement adds that the bilateral relationship between Russia and China has reached its highest level in history and will continue to develop steadily.
