Russia Calls Switzerland's New Security Policy Strategy Anti-Russian

The Swiss government’s newly issued Security Policy Strategy is clearly anti-Russian in nature, Russia’s Ambassador to Switzerland, Sergey Garmonin, said in an interview with RIA Novosti. The 57-page document includes a chapter discussing “Russia as a threat to European security.” It claims there is a risk of escalation into war between Russia and NATO member states. Based largely on this argument, the document proposes increasing weapons stockpiles to counter potential and actual attacks. Garmonin reiterated that Russia poses no threat to Europe. Russian diplomats have repeatedly stated, both publicly and in conversations with Swiss counterparts, that Russia does not pose a threat to the Alpine nation. Garmonin added that his words appear to have fallen on deaf ears.
