Russia awaits continuation of dialogue with US on Ukraine settlement

Moscow (ANTARA) - Russia is awaiting the continuation of dialogue with the United States on the issue of resolving the conflict in Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Wednesday said he doubted media reports stating that US President Donald Trump had approved Kiev’s strikes against Russia. “We look forward to continuing dialogue with the American negotiators on the issue of Ukraine regulation,” Peskov told reporters. Russia greatly appreciates Trump’s efforts in resolving the Ukraine issue, which are planned to continue after the situation with Iran concludes, the official said. “It seems impossible to make such efforts [to resolve the conflict in Ukraine] if we are involved in a war on one of the sides. And, of course, we know that… the US team understands this very well, is aware of it, and acts on that basis,” Peskov added.
