Russia: Attack on Iran's Nuclear Facility Violates International Law
Moscow (ANTARA) - Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated on Saturday (21/3) that the attack on the uranium enrichment facility in Natanz, Iran, constitutes a grave violation of international law.
“Regardless of the widely publicised claims that Iran’s nuclear programme has been ‘totally destroyed’ in US airstrikes since June 2025, the uranium enrichment facility in Natanz, which is under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), has been attacked again. This is a grave violation of international law, the UN Charter, the IAEA Statute, as well as relevant resolutions from the UN Security Council and the IAEA General Conference,” Zakharova said.
She emphasised that the US and Israel continue to launch massive attacks on Iran’s military, civilian, and nuclear facilities, disregarding civilian casualties as well as potential radiological and environmental consequences.
The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran reported that Israel and the United States (US) targeted the Natanz uranium enrichment complex on Saturday morning local time, with no reports of leaks.
Moscow urges the international community, including the UN and IAEA, to provide an unbiased and uncompromising assessment of these irresponsible actions.
According to Zakharova, this poses a real risk of disaster across the Middle East and explicitly aims to further undermine peace, stability, and security in the region.
