BOGOR, Kompas.com — The weakening of the Indonesian rupiah against the US dollar has once again captured the attention of the national automotive industry, including UD Trucks.

Chief Executive Officer of Astra UD Trucks, Bambang Widjanarko, stated that the impact of the currency weakness will influence the selling prices of UD Trucks vehicles.

“It will have an impact because we are a merger from various sources. Our vendors are already global. Although our imports are involved with the yen, there is also an impact from the dollar. So there will certainly be price adjustments,” he told Kompas.com on Thursday (21 May 2026).

However, amid this situation, the company continues to attempt to delay its planned price increase for its products in the Indonesian market.

In numerical terms, Bambang mentioned that the price increase for UD Trucks would be approximately 3-4 per cent.

However, this figure is still uncertain as the company is still attempting to keep the increase below this threshold.

This is being done to protect the market share for UD Trucks’ product sales in Indonesia.

“But we are still trying to negotiate to keep it below that. Otherwise, it will be difficult for us to sell. Market conditions are also not yet stable,” he said.
