CEO of PT Mobil Anak Bangsa Indonesia, Kelik Irwantono, stated that 50-60% of electric vehicle (EV) components in Indonesia are still imported. Consequently, when the rupiah weakens, production costs rise by up to 20%, putting pressure on purchasing power. On the other hand, the expanding energy transition programme, which now reaches the mining and logistics sectors, presents a potential opportunity for EV business expansion. However, with the current economic pressures and rising raw material costs, EV producers are also finding it difficult to increase selling prices.
