Rupiah Weakens: Will Mitsubishi Raise Car Service Costs?

The weakening of the rupiah against the US dollar has begun to raise concerns in the automotive industry, including potential increases in vehicle servicing costs and spare parts prices. This is because certain automotive components are still influenced by raw material costs and logistics tied to foreign exchange rates. Intan Vidiasari, General Manager of Marketing Communication & PR Division at MMKSI, stated that the company regularly evaluates spare parts and aftersales product prices to maintain service quality and product availability for consumers. In other words, there is currently no overall increase in servicing costs across official Mitsubishi Motors workshops due to the rupiah’s depreciation. “Mitsubishi Motors continues to strive to provide greater convenience and value to consumers through various aftersales programmes, including the SMART Package,” Intan said. The SMART Package covers labour costs and specific spare parts for up to 50,000 kilometres or four years, depending on the vehicle model and whichever comes first. “With this programme, consumers can enjoy more affordable, transparent, and quality-assured maintenance at official Mitsubishi Motors workshops,” she added.
