SOLO — The weakening condition of the rupiah has sparked concerns that the prices of various goods, including motor vehicles, may rise. However, used motorcycle traders state that the market remains stable and unit prices in the market have not undergone significant changes.

Ahsan, the owner of the Kembar Motor used car and motorcycle showroom in Solo, noted that any potential price increases are more likely to affect new vehicles rather than used ones. “For the time being, there has been no price increase. If there is an impact, it is more likely to be felt first in new cars or motorcycles,” Ahsan told Kompas.com on Sunday (17/5/2026).

Echoing this sentiment, a used motorcycle trader in Solo, who requested anonymity, stated that the weakening rupiah does not automatically cause used motorcycle prices to change immediately. “Prices are still normal as usual; it does not change across all aspects that quickly,” they told Kompas.com on Monday (18/5/2026).

According to the trader, used motorcycle prices currently follow market conditions and consumer demand, and therefore have not been directly influenced by the rupiah’s depreciation. Other used motorcycle traders in Solo also assessed that the used vehicle market tends to remain safe from the impact of the weakening rupiah.

“There is no increase at the moment. The used motorcycle market is still stable because consumers are still price-sensitive,” one trader told Kompas.com. They added that most traders are maintaining current prices to ensure sales continue amidst uncertain economic conditions.
