Rupiah Weakens to Rp 18,090 per US Dollar, IHSG Opens Higher
JAKARTA – The rupiah exchange rate weakened by 25 points, or 0.14 per cent, to Rp 18,090 per US dollar on Monday morning (13/7/2026), compared with the previous close of Rp 18,065 per US dollar. Lukman Leong, an analyst at Doo Financial Futures, said the rupiah’s weakening was triggered by rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
“The rupiah is expected to weaken against the US dollar amid renewed escalation of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which has caused a surge in global crude oil prices,” he said in Jakarta on Monday.
Citing Anadolu, regional tensions have intensified over recent days amid exchanges of attacks between United States and Iranian forces. On Sunday (12/7/2026), Iran said it had launched attacks on a number of US military sites in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan and Oman, in retaliation for US strikes on several targets in Iran.
The United States launched further attacks on several areas of southern Iran on Monday morning. Iran’s state television station, IRIB, reported several explosions in Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Qeshm Island and Jask, all of which are in Hormozgan Province.
The Mehr news agency also reported explosions in the cities of Bushehr and Kangan. Another source of sentiment comes from important US economic data due to be released tomorrow, namely June inflation, which is forecast to fall 0.1 per cent month on month and from 4.2 per cent to 3.9 per cent year on year.
Based on these factors, the rupiah exchange rate is predicted to move within a range of Rp 18,000 to Rp 18,150 per US dollar.
