Economic and money market observer, Ibrahim Assuaibi, stated that the global credit rating agency, Moody’s, has announced ratings for several Southeast Asian countries, including Indonesia. For Indonesia, Moody’s issued its latest assessment of the Republic’s debt rating since February 2026. The result is that the debt rating remains at Baa2, one level above the investment grade threshold, but the rating outlook has been revised from stable to negative. With this note, the Indonesian government has previously expressed appreciation for Moody’s assessment that maintains Indonesia’s credit rating at Baa2, with an adjustment of the outlook from stable to negative, and will continue to carry out economic transformation and activate all engines of economic growth. The government continues to ensure that every potential risk can be well managed. Various debottlenecking efforts that hinder business activities continue to be undertaken. In addition, the Government together with Bank Indonesia (BI) remains committed to maintaining price stability and exchange rates as well as financial market stability. Fiscal and Danantara synergy will also be optimised. Moreover, with the existing policy commitments and consistency, the Government is optimistic about accelerating higher economic growth and improving the welfare of the people. “The rupiah is volatile but closed weaker in the range of Rp17,210-Rp17,260,” he said. For information, market players are concerned about the increased military escalation in the Gulf region, a day after Iran released footage of commando forces boarding a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz and due to the halt in progress on reopening that vital waterway.
