Rupiah Weakens Further, Edging Closer to Rp18,000 Against US Dollar

The rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar opened weaker in Wednesday morning trading. The rupiah depreciated slightly amid global financial market dynamics that pressured the domestic exchange rate. Based on trading data on Wednesday (1/7) morning, the rupiah weakened by 37 points or 0.21%. The rupiah currently stands at Rp17,944 per US dollar, compared to the previous closing position of Rp17,907 per US dollar. Money market conditions today are expected to remain volatile. Investors continue to monitor movements in US bond yields and risk sentiment in Asian markets, which could influence capital outflows from the domestic market. Bank Indonesia is expected to remain in the market to maintain exchange rate stability in line with its fundamentals.
