Rupiah Weakens, Auto2000 Holds Toyota Spare Parts Prices

The depreciation of the rupiah against the United States dollar, which has now breached the Rp 17,700 per US dollar level, is beginning to raise concerns in the automotive industry. One of the most pronounced impacts is the potential increase in the price of vehicle spare parts and routine maintenance costs, as some automotive components still depend on imported inputs or raw materials. However, amid the pressure, Auto2000 has clarified that it has not yet adjusted prices for most service parts and Toyota spare parts. ‘At present we are holding prices for key parts for customers,’ Anton Jimmi Suwandy, Chief Executive Officer of Auto2000, told Kompas.com on 22 May 2026. This is because many vehicle components are still influenced by the dollar exchange rate, ranging from fast-moving spare parts to certain components imported from overseas. Nevertheless, Auto2000 has chosen not to raise prices for servicing services or the spare parts most commonly used by customers. ‘The decision to hold prices is seen as crucial, particularly for car owners who regularly service their vehicles at official workshops.’ The costs of maintenance are still stable, so customers can keep their vehicles in good condition without being burdened by a sudden rise in service costs. ‘We greatly consider the interests of customers; therefore, should cost adjustments occur in the future, they will be chosen and checked selectively to keep them affordable, and Auto2000 will continue to provide the best service to customers.’ Nevertheless, Auto2000 is aiming to balance business viability with customer needs, particularly in Toyota’s aftersales service.
