Rupiah Weakens as US Dollar Breaks Through Rp 17,000

The Indonesian rupiah weakened against the US dollar on trading today, Monday, 9 March 2026. The American currency gained strength at the level of Rp 17,000 this morning.

According to detikFinance, Bloomberg data shows the US dollar strengthened by 0.50 per cent to the level of Rp 17,009. The rupiah had previously closed weaker by 20 points at the level of Rp 16,925 on Friday, 6 March.

Meanwhile, the US dollar showed mixed movement against a number of other currencies. For example, against the euro (EUR), the US dollar weakened by 0.90 per cent. A similar condition occurred with the US dollar against the pound sterling (GBP), which weakened by 0.89 per cent.

The US dollar also weakened against the Australian dollar (AUD) by 0.84 per cent. However, the US dollar was recorded strengthening against the Japanese yen (JPY) by 0.60 per cent.

Whilst against the Swiss franc (CHF), the US dollar strengthened by 0.79 per cent. Similarly, against the Canadian dollar (CAD), the US dollar was recorded weakening by 0.10 per cent.
