Rupiah Weakens as Honda Motorcycle Spare Parts Rise by Up to 10%

JAKARTA – The weakening rupiah against the US dollar has begun to impact the two-wheeler aftermarket sector. Rising raw material and component costs have led to price adjustments for oil and spare parts at authorised service centres.

PT Wahana Makmur Sejati, the main dealer for Honda motorcycles in Jakarta and Tangerang, confirmed that price adjustments have been implemented this month.

“Price adjustments for oil and spare parts were made in May, though the increases are not substantial,” said Henry Tulus, Head of Parts at PT Wahana Makmur Sejati, to Kompas.com (25 May 2026).

Dependence on certain raw materials and components makes spare parts prices more sensitive to currency fluctuations.

“For spare parts, price increases range from 2% to 10%, depending on the type and category. We are ensuring these adjustments still consider consumer needs,” Henry added.

Despite the price adjustments, AHASS assured efforts to keep spare parts prices from overly burdening consumers.

This means consumers will only face adjustments in component and lubricant prices, not service labour costs.

This move is deemed crucial to safeguarding purchasing power amid an unstable economic climate.

Regular servicing remains a routine necessity for Honda motorcycle users to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
