Rupiah Weakens, Alva Discusses Potential Increase in Motorcycle Prices
The domestic automotive industry is currently facing dynamic macroeconomic challenges, notably the volatility of the Rupiah exchange rate against the US Dollar. This situation has triggered speculation regarding the potential increase in vehicle retail prices, including within the electric motorcycle segment.
esponding to these developments, Purbaya Yudha, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Alva, emphasised that the company is choosing to remain realistic and focus on factors within its internal control. Purbaya added that industry players hope for the stability of the Rupiah exchange rate to maintain market absorption and encourage healthy economic growth.
Despite the challenges posed by exchange rates, Alva remains optimistic that the adoption of electric motorcycles in Indonesia has a bright future. Furthermore, in several daily usage scenarios, the operational costs of electric motorcycles are claimed to be significantly more efficient than conventional motorcycles.
βFor certain use cases, using an electric motorcycle has proven to be more affordable than using petrol. This should already be felt by the wider community,β said Purbaya.
