Jakarta (ANTARA) - The rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar at the close of Tuesday’s trading moved weaker by 22 points or 0.12 per cent to Rp17,744 per US dollar, compared to the previous close of Rp17,722 per US dollar.

Bank Woori Saudara analyst Rully Nova stated that the rupiah’s weakness was influenced by the rise in oil prices to 91 US dollars per barrel amid the escalation of the conflict between the US and Iran.

“The rupiah weakened in today’s trading, influenced by the global rise in oil prices following the increased escalation of the US-Iran conflict,” he told ANTARA in Jakarta on Tuesday.

US forces struck two Iranian missile launchers on Larak Island on Sunday (30/08/2026), marking the first attack on Iranian territory since late July. The operation, conducted after a one-month hiatus in direct military involvement, targeted systems allegedly being prepared to launch sea-mine-laden rockets into the Strait of Hormuz.

In response, Sputnik revealed that Iranian armed forces reportedly launched attacks against US military positions in Jordan.

Other sentiments stemmed from rising inflation expectations and an increase in US government bond yields.

“US monthly inflation expectations are 0.39 per cent and 3.6 per cent annually. The 10-year US Treasury yield rose 5.8 bps (basis points) to 4.77 per cent, and the 20-year yield rose 6.7 bps to 5.27 per cent,” said Rully.

Meanwhile, Bank Indonesia’s Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (JISDOR) moved stronger today at the level of Rp17,727 per US dollar from the previous Rp17,746 per US dollar.
