The rupiah exchange rate in the spot market weakened at the opening of trading on Tuesday (2/6/2026). The rupiah depreciated by 84.50 points, or 0.47 per cent, to the level of Rp 17,889 per US dollar.

Currency movements across Asia were varied during this morning’s session. The South Korean won recorded the deepest decline in Asia, dropping 0.23 per cent against the US dollar, slightly worse than the rupiah’s performance. Following this, the Taiwan dollar and the Japanese yen both corrected by 0.03 per cent, followed by the Philippine peso, which slipped by 0.02 per cent.

The Hong Kong dollar also weakened by 0.01 per cent, while the Singapore dollar saw a slight decrease of 0.008 per cent against the US dollar, and the Malaysian ringgit weakened marginally by 0.005 per cent. In contrast, the Thai baht surged by 0.1 per cent, and the Chinese yuan strengthened by 0.03 per cent.

Meanwhile, the Indonesia Stock Exchange Composite Index (IHSG) opened at 6,210.00 and briefly touched a high of 6,264.26. However, this strength triggered profit-taking, causing the index to fluctuate and dip to a low of 6,183.17 before recovering to remain in the green zone. Trading activity was relatively high, with transaction volumes reaching 9.161 billion shares and a transaction value of Rp 7.824 trillion. The trading frequency stood at 713,710 transactions. In terms of stock movement, 312 stocks gained, outperforming 288 stocks that declined, while 141 stocks remained stagnant.
