The government has ensured that it continues to monitor the movement of the Rupiah exchange rate, which has recently faced pressure against the US Dollar. Amidst this fluctuation, the Palace has asserted that Indonesia’s economic fundamentals remain in a strong and stable position.

The State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, stated that the government, specifically the Ministry of Finance, is conducting intensive coordination. This step is being taken to closely observe developments in the global financial markets while preparing the necessary strategies to safeguard national economic stability.

According to Prasetylar, the government’s focus is not solely on exchange rate movements but also on various macro indicators that reflect the overall health of the Indonesian economy.

“Regarding the issue of the Rupiah, we, the government, specifically the Ministry of Finance, are continuing to coordinate intensively to monitor and subsequently implement necessary measures,” Prasetyo told the media on Thursday.

He urged the public not to be excessively concerned about the fluctuations of the Rupiah. Prasetyo emphasised that several key indicators show that the national economic condition remains well-maintained amidst global uncertainty.

Positive economic growth and controlled inflation serve as tangible evidence that the domestic economic foundation remains solid. This provides essential capital for Indonesia in facing external challenges.

“What we can certainly convey is that we must be confident; our economic fundamentals, as reflected by economic growth and maintained inflation, are, God willing, quite strong,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, a member of Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Rina Sa’adah, reminded the government to remain vigilant regarding the impact of the Rupiah’s depreciation against the US Dollar on national food prices.
