Rupiah Today 8 June 2026: Continued Weakening to the Level of Rp18,107

The exchange rate of the rupiah against the US Dollar (USD) recorded a decline at the opening of trading on Monday morning (08/06/2026). Based on market data, the ‘Garuda’ currency moved down significantly compared to the previous trading close.

In the opening session, the rupiah weakened by 71 points, a correction of 0.39%. This brought the exchange rate to the level of Rp18,107 per US Dollar, moving away from the previous closing position of Rp18,036 per US Dollar.

This weakening indicates pressure on the domestic exchange rate amidst global market dynamics at the start of the week. Market participants tend to closely monitor the latest economic data releases and monetary policy from the US central bank, the Fed, which continues to influence capital flows into emerging markets.

Technically, the rupiah’s movement today above the Rp18,100 level reflects quite high volatility. Analysts predict that this fluctuation will continue throughout the trading day, depending on risk sentiment in regional markets and upcoming domestic macroeconomic data releases.

Currency and commodity observer Ibrahim Assuaibi noted that in the coming week, the US Dollar index is expected to strengthen sharply, impacting both the rupiah and gold prices. The breach of the psychological level of Rp18,100 per US Dollar is considered a danger signal for national economic stability. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa highlighted the impact of the weakening rupiah, which is being felt by small entrepreneurs, particularly tofu and tempeh traders.
