The rupiah weakened further in the spot market at the opening of trading on Tuesday (26 May 2026). By 09:32 WIB, it had depreciated 37 points, or 0.21%, to 17,781 per US dollar.

The rupiah continued its weakening from the previous day. On Monday (25 May 2025), the rupiah in the spot market depreciated 0.15% to Rp17,744 per US dollar.

The rupiah’s depreciation remains influenced by domestic and global sentiments that remain unfavourable for Indonesia’s financial markets.

“It will continue to weaken between Rp17,740 and Rp17,800 per US dollar,” said Currency and Commodities Analyst Ibrahim Assuaibi.

However, after a quick rally at the start of the session, the index began to experience profit-taking, causing its movement to gradually decline and currently trading around 6,234, still up 0.45%.

Most stocks remained in the green zone, with 351 advancing, 235 declining, and 145 unchanged.

Trading activity was robust, with a volume of 7.27 billion shares and 535,000 transactions. The transaction value reached Rp4.11 trillion.
