Rupiah Ready to Strengthen! Dasco: Those Holding Dollars, Best to Let Go
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad believes the recent strengthening of the rupiah is influenced by growing market confidence in the government. Referring to Refinitiv data on Thursday (11/6/2026), the rupiah exchange rate opened trading with a 0.14% gain, appreciating to Rp17,925 per US$. “I think confidence in the government is also getting stronger, so that also affects the market and the strengthening of the rupiah exchange rate. I think the government’s work will continue,” Dasco stated at the DPR/MPR Building, Jakarta. Dasco is confident the rupiah’s strengthening will continue in line with the government’s performance in improving the economy. “I also received information from the government that this week and going forward, there are special strategies that will be implemented by the government, which I have heard about and believe will make the rupiah exchange rate strengthen,” he explained. Dasco advised holders of US dollars to quickly exchange them for rupiah. “For all of you who are currently holding dollars, hoping for a surplus, you should let go of your dollars because if the rupiah strengthens next week, it would be a pity to keep holding onto dollars. That is my appeal,” he concluded.
