Rupiah Plunges Nearly to Rp 17,500 per US Dollar!

The exchange rate of the rupiah against the US dollar continued to weaken. At the opening of trading today, Tuesday (12/5/2026), the rupiah against the US dollar reached Rp 17,487, nearly approaching the psychological level of Rp 17,500. Quoted from Bloomberg data, the US dollar exchange rate at 09:06 WIB rose 73 points or 0.42 percent. Furthermore, the US dollar’s movement against other currencies tended to strengthen. The US dollar strengthened 0.22 percent against the Australian dollar. The US dollar also rose 0.07 percent against the euro. Similarly, it strengthened 0.17 percent against the Singapore dollar. The US dollar was down 0.02 percent against the Chinese yuan. The US dollar rose 0.24 percent against the yen. It also strengthened 0.29 percent against the baht. The US dollar also rose 0.21 percent against the ringgit.
