REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG – Commission XI of the DPR RI has urged Bank Indonesia to immediately address the exchange rate of the Rupiah against the US dollar, which has reached IDR 17,614 per US dollar. They have asked Bank Indonesia to immediately bring the Rupiah exchange rate back to its proper level.

“Regarding the exchange rate, we must emphasise to Bank Indonesia that it should make serious efforts to restore the Rupiah to its actual value,” said Chairman of Commission XI of the DPR RI, Mukhamad Misbakhun, during the Soksi national coordination meeting in Bandung, Friday (15/6/2026).

He said that the Governor of Bank Indonesia stated that the Rupiah is still undervalued. Misbakhun asked Bank Indonesia to immediately address this because it could put pressure on inflation for imported goods.

“What is the exact value of ‘undervalued’? This is the task of Bank Indonesia. Because if not, it will put pressure on inflation for imported goods due to the price difference caused by the exchange rate exceeding the assumed price,” he said.

He added that the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) has ensured that fuel prices will not be raised, especially for subsidised fuel, if the average global oil price is USD 100 per barrel. Misbakhun said that the central government has ensured that there will be no price increases until the end of the year.

“The average price today is still below 100 (dollars), although the oil price in the market has exceeded 100, but we have experienced a period when oil was below 70 dollars. So it is still in a very safe category for the government to continue providing subsidies,” he said.

He added that SOKSI will continue to provide support to the central government of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. “SOKSI must be able to be part of contributing to that support,” he said.
