JAKARTA - The rupiah exchange rate in the spot market opened stronger in trading on Wednesday (25/3/2026). The Garuda currency stood at Rp 16,880 per US dollar.

According to Bloomberg data, the rupiah strengthened by 18 points or 0.10 percent compared to the previous day’s close at Rp 16,898 per US dollar.

Doo Financial Futures currency analyst Lukman Leong assessed that global sentiment is expected to remain fluctuating amid unresolved uncertainties related to the conflict in the Middle East.

The movement in oil prices, which remains volatile, indicates that the energy market is not yet fully stable and is still sensitive to geopolitical developments.

In line with that, the rupiah exchange rate is projected to face pressure against the US dollar.

“Global sentiment is expected to continue fluctuating amid uncertainties in the Middle East war, while oil prices are also fluctuating sharply. Market sentiment is expected to turn risk-off again tomorrow, after previously being positive in response to Trump’s statements,” Lukman told Kompas.com.

In agreement, currency and commodities analyst Ibrahim Assuaibi assessed that the rupiah’s movement is also influenced by domestic interest rate policies.

In addition, Bank Indonesia continues to intervene in the market to keep the rupiah’s movement stable. Ibrahim predicts that the rupiah will trade in the range of Rp 16,990 to Rp 17,075 per US dollar on Wednesday.
