Rupiah Hits All-Time Low as Banks Sell Dollars Above Rp18,000
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The rupiah closed sharply weaker against the US dollar on Tuesday (26 May 2026), ahead of the Idul Adha holiday.
Refinitiv data showed the rupiah closed at Rp17,775 per USD, a 0.25% decline. This marks a new all-time low for the currency, bringing it closer to the psychological barrier of Rp17,800 per USD.
Throughout the trading session, the rupiah faced pressure. It opened flat at Rp17,730 per USD before weakening to an intraday high of Rp17,790 per USD.
