Rupiah Expected to Move Fluctuantly, Potentially Weakening to Rp 16,940 per US Dollar
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The rupiah exchange rate is expected to move fluctuantly in Friday’s trading (27/3/2026). The rupiah is potentially to close weaker in the range of Rp 16,900 - Rp 16,940 per US dollar. In the spot market, the rupiah maintained its strengthening until the end of Thursday’s trading (26/3/2026). The rupiah closed at Rp 16,904 per US dollar, up 7 points or 0.04 percent compared to the previous day’s close at Rp 16,911 per US dollar. “For tomorrow’s trading, the rupiah will be fluctuant but close weaker in the range of Rp 16,900 - Rp 16,940 (per US dollar),” said currency and commodity analyst Ibrahim Assuaibi to reporters on Thursday night. Although Iran has not officially accepted the proposal, the country has also not firmly rejected it, thus creating limited hopes for potential de-escalation. However, uncertainty remains high, especially after Iran denied direct negotiations with Washington. This situation makes market participants tend to be cautious, particularly amid volatility in global oil prices. “However, uncertainty remains high, with Iran openly denying direct negotiations with Washington and indicating that key differences still exist.
