Rupiah Exchange Rate Today, 7 April 2026: Continues to Weaken
The Indonesian rupiah against the US dollar (USD) continues to face pressure at the opening of trading on Tuesday morning, 7 April 2026. Based on money market data, the Garuda currency experienced a significant correction compared to the previous close.
At 09:15 WIB on Tuesday morning, the rupiah opened weaker at Rp17,064 per USD. This weakening occurs amid global market dynamics overshadowed by uncertainties in US monetary policy.
The rupiah’s weakening today has become a serious concern for market players, particularly regarding its impact on import costs and domestic inflation (imported inflation). Bank Indonesia (BI) is expected to continue monitoring this movement and take stabilisation measures in the foreign exchange market to keep rupiah volatility under control.
Investors and business actors are advised to pay attention to further releases of US economic data as well as statements from US central bank officials (The Fed), which will influence the dollar’s short-term direction. Additionally, the domestic trade balance conditions will also be a key factor supporting the rupiah’s strength going forward.
