The Rupiah successfully ended trading on Friday (2/10/2026) in the green against the US Dollar, following a period of weakness in previous sessions.

According to Refinitiv data, the Rupiah closed at the level of Rp17,868/US, gaining0.40.

Throughout today’s trading, the Rupiah opened at the level of Rp17,925/US$ and fluctuated within a range of Rp17,850-Rp17,950/US$.

The strengthening of the Rupiah occurred alongside the weakening of the US Dollar Index (DXY). The index, which measures the strength of the greenback against six major world currencies, was observed at 101.877, weakening by 0.23% as of 15:00 WIB.

The US Dollar weakened amidst market anticipation of the release of US labour market data, particularly the non-farm payrolls (NFP) scheduled for Friday night. This data is a key focus for markets to assess US labour market conditions and gain further clues regarding the monetary policy direction of the Federal Reserve (The Fed).

Amidst these dynamics, the government has also been monitoring the movement of the Rupiah, which recently approached the Rp18,000/US$ level.

Deputy Finance Minister Juda Agung stated that the issuance of government debt securities in the global market has played a role in strengthening foreign exchange reserves, which can be used to maintain exchange rate stability.

“The funds obtained, which are placed in Bank Indonesia, become foreign exchange reserves. These reserves are used to perform stabilisation of the Rupiah exchange rate. This role is quite significant for the Ministry of Finance,” said Juda during a Media Gathering in Bogor on Thursday (2/10/2026).
