Running has grown increasingly as part of Indonesian lifestyle. Garmin Indonesia reports running has surged to become one of the country’s most popular sports. This growth is supported by strong communities, rising health awareness, and a proliferation of running events at various scales. Beyond physical activity, running now serves as a space for maintaining health, building discipline, expanding connections, and finding supportive communities.

For women, this space is particularly relevant given their crucial roles in families and communities, including fostering healthy habits, supporting child development, and making key daily decisions.

‘Amid growing public enthusiasm for running, Great Eastern Indonesia sees an opportunity to enrich this experience through an initiative focused on women, inclusive for children and families, and delivering broader benefits to society and the environment,’ said Roy Hendrata Gozalie, Marketing Director of Great Eastern Life Indonesia, in Jakarta on Sunday (24 May 2026).

Building on this, he added, Great Eastern Indonesia, in collaboration with Postinc Media, is launching the Great Eastern Women’s Run Indonesia 2026 for the first time in the country. ‘Under the spirit of Women Without Limits, we designed this event as a safe space for women to move, express themselves, support each other, and become part of a positive community,’ Roy said.

He acknowledged that the Great Eastern Women’s Run Indonesia 2026 is inspired by the Great Eastern Women’s Run Singapore since 2006, which has since grown into one of Asia’s largest and most iconic women’s running events.

The inaugural edition will take place on 16 August 2026 at Senayan Park, Jakarta, coinciding with Great Eastern Life Indonesia’s anniversary and the day before Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day.

‘This momentum makes the Great Eastern Women’s Run Indonesia even more meaningful as a symbol of women moving forward healthily, bravely, and confidently in their life aspirations,’ he added.

Five participants from the Great Eastern Women’s Run Indonesia 2026 will receive tickets to the Great Eastern Women’s Run Singapore on 1 November 2026. ‘As the first edition, we’re starting with a focused scale of 1,000 participants across two main categories: 5K Fun Run and Princess Dash. This allows women of all ages, including mothers and daughters, to participate, making it not just a sporting event but a multi-generational bonding moment,’ Roy explained.

Roy added that official tickets went on sale from 24 May 2026 via the official link, with three pricing phases—super early bird, early bird, and normal—ranging from Rp249,000 to Rp349,000. He hopes the Great Eastern Women’s Run, which has become a strong movement in Singapore, can now be introduced to Indonesia for the first time.

‘With the Great Eastern Women’s Run Indonesia 2026, we aim to encourage Indonesian women to go further, be healthier, braver, support each other, and make an impact on others and the environment. This embodies the ’Jadi Hebat, Reach for Great’ spirit of Great Eastern,’ Roy concluded.

According to Linggawati Tok, Marketing Director of Great Eastern General Insurance Indonesia, safety is crucial for participants and event organisers.

‘With Event Liability Insurance from Great Eastern General Insurance Indonesia, we aim to ensure a protected, comfortable, and responsible event. With comprehensive coverage, participants can run with peace of mind,’ she said.

Rana Rayendra, CEO of Postinc Media, hopes this collaboration creates an experience that encourages women to move healthily while connecting with supportive communities.

‘For us, it’s not just about running—it’s about creating space for women to uplift each other and make an impact,’ he said.

As the official banking partner, OCBC supports the initiative promoting healthy lifestyles and reinforcing the importance of financial health as part of overall well-being.

The Great Eastern Women’s Run Indonesia 2026 also embraces end-to-end sustainability through collaboration with Balikin, founded by Nadia Mulya, to provide reusable cups at water stations, and Rekosistem for waste management before, during, and after the event.

The launch of the Great Eastern Women’s Run Indonesia 2026 began with Postinc’s Gurls Charity Run at Senayan Park, Jakarta, followed by introducing official partners, revealing jersey and medal designs, and opening registrations for participants. (H-2)
