Rumours Emerge of Purbaya Being Treated in Hospital, Deputy Finance Minister: Insha'Allah Healthy, Just Pray

Jakarta - Deputy Finance Minister Juda Agung has responded to rumours circulating on social media claiming that Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa is currently being treated in hospital.

“I have no idea. Insha’Allah he is healthy. Just pray,” said Juda when met after attending an event by the IPB Alumni Association in Jakarta, quoted on Sunday, 3 May 2026.

He also assured that the APBN KiTa press conference will still be held on Wednesday, 6 May 2026, after it was previously cancelled. The APBN KiTa agenda was originally scheduled for Wednesday, 29 April 2026.

He explained that the rescheduling was done to await the release of economic growth data by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), which will be published on Tuesday, 5 May 2026, so that the data can be presented in full.

Previously, Purbaya had disclosed his health condition during a media briefing on Friday, 24 April 2026. He admitted to experiencing pain in his back area.

Purbaya said he had to undergo injections at eight points to continue carrying out his activities.

After the event, Purbaya also appeared to have difficulty standing from his chair and had to hold onto one of his colleagues. While walking, he was seen being assisted by his aide.

When asked by reporters about his condition at that time, Purbaya admitted that the pain he was experiencing had not fully subsided.
