Rumours Circulate of Purbaya Collapsing and Being Hospitalised, Finance Ministry Responds

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Ministry of Finance has responded to discussions on social media stating that Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa was reported to have collapsed and been admitted to hospital. The Head of Communication and Information Services at the Ministry of Finance, Deni Surjantoro, has refuted the negative rumour. He explained that Purbaya is currently in good health. “Up to now, the Minister is in good health,” Deni told CNBC Indonesia on Sunday (3/4/2026). He further explained that Purbaya is currently engaging in activities with his family. “He is currently spending time with his family,” he added. Purbaya also uploaded a video of himself swimming to his personal TikTok account, @purbayayudhis. In the caption, Purbaya reminded people not to forget to exercise, especially for Generation Z. “Gen Z, don’t forget to exercise, swimming is fine, running is okay, padel is possible too. I usually swim,” he wrote, quoted on Sunday (3/5/2026). “The long weekend doesn’t feel like it’s ending. Get ready to hustle on Monday,” he added.
