News regarding plans to increase the price of Fuel Oil (BBM) in April 2026 is widely circulating on social media platform X. The Director General of Oil and Natural Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Laode Sulaeman, has provided clarification on the issue.

Citing detikFinance, Laode stated that the determination of non-subsidised BBM prices will be officially announced on 1 April 2026. He emphasised that non-subsidised BBM prices follow the dynamics of global oil prices.

“For non-subsidised BBM, just wait until 1 April,” said Laode to detikcom.

Meanwhile, for subsidised BBM, Laode confirmed there will be no price increase.

“The important thing is that there is no increase for subsidised BBM,” said Laode.

For information, the state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina produces non-subsidised BBM including Pertamax (RON 92), Pertamax Turbo (RON 98), Pertamax Green (RON 95), Pertamina Dex (CN 53), and Dexlite (CN 51). Subsidised BBM consists of Pertalite, which remains at Rp 10,000 per litre, and Solar (Biosolar) at Rp 6,800 per litre.

Laode added that the availability of BBM and LPG is safe and adequate. The public is asked not to make excessive purchases.

“BBM and LPG stocks are very safe and sufficient, so avoid panic buying,” he said.

Pertamina’s Response

Vice President of Corporate Communication at PT Pertamina (Persero), Muhammad Baron, also commented on the information about estimated prices circulating on social media X. He stated that the information does not originate from Pertamina and cannot be held accountable.

“The information on projected BBM price increases circulating cannot be verified; to date, there has been no official announcement regarding prices from 1 April 2026,” he told detikcom on Monday (30/3/2026).

Baron advised the public not to easily believe unverified information. He said that for those wanting to know developments on BBM prices, the public can access the company’s official channels at www.pertamina.com.

“Obtain valid Pertamina BBM price information only through official channels at www.pertamina.com. Pertamina supports the government’s call to use energy wisely,” he said.

For information, on social media X, netizens are widely discussing information claiming that BBM prices will rise starting 1 April 2026.

In a post from one social media X account posting about projected non-subsidised BBM price data on 1 April 2026, it mentioned that the price of Pertamax in April would be Rp 17,000 per litre.
