Rumini to receive bonus

JAKARTA (JP): The Central Java chapter of the Indonesian
Athletic Association will give a bonus to distance runner Rumini
Sudragni from Salatiga, Central Java, who won the gold medal in
the women's 10,000m with a new SEA Games record on Monday.

"We will definitely give a bonus to Rumini, who has
successfully contributed the first gold medal in track and field
for Indonesia. This has been a tradition for the association,"
said Karseno, the chairman of the association, in Semarang
yesterday.

The 16-year-old girl from the Dragon athletic club in Salatiga
surprised herself and her coach when she established the Games'
record in the 10,000 meters with a time of 35:21.43, running 7.4
seconds faster than the old record holder Mar Mar Min of Myanmar.

Karseno was quoted by Antara as saying that Rumini will not
only receive a bonus from the association but will also get
special treatment at school to compensate for the time she needed
to practice and participate in the Games.

However, Karseno could not disclose the size of the bonus
because the association must also award other local athletes who
win at the Games.

"Local gold earners will receive a bonus, but we have yet to
decide the amount. Obviously it won't be as much as the Rp 25
million bonus promised by the National Sports Council," he said.
