Rumah Zakat Plants 1,621 Trees in Aceh to Promote Disaster Mitigation
Rumah Zakat’s tree-planting initiative forms part of tangible actions to commemorate the National Disaster Preparedness Day (HKBN) 2026 in Aceh. The activity was conducted alongside various community elements as a commitment to preserving the environment while enhancing preparedness against disasters. The tree-planting action was carried out at several locations with potential disaster risks. Therefore, the activity involved volunteers, students, communities, and various other stakeholders. During its implementation, 1,621 tree saplings were successfully planted. The types of trees included mango, jeumpa, pine, and tabebuya. Moreover, the selection of these tree types was tailored to the local environmental needs. This is not only a symbol of care for the environment but also an effective disaster mitigation strategy. Trees play a role in strengthening soil structure, increasing water absorption capacity, and helping to reduce the risks of flooding and landslides. In addition to the planting action, the activity served as an educational platform for the community. Participants were encouraged to understand the importance of individual roles in maintaining the environment and reducing disaster risks. Thus, public awareness of the importance of environmental conservation continues to grow. Furthermore, active community involvement becomes key to creating a safer and more sustainable environment. The activity demonstrates the strong spirit of collaboration among various parties. Volunteers, students, and communities worked together to realise tangible actions that directly impact the environment. Through the momentum of HKBN 2026, Rumah Zakat hopes that such actions can continue. Additionally, community-based environmental programmes are expected to reach more areas in the future.
