Rumah Zakat Acts Swiftly, Distributing 1,180 Masks to Protect Residents from Volcanic Ash

As a rapid response to the impact of the Anak Krakatau eruption, Rumah Zakat Bintaro has once again stepped in to support the community by distributing masks to residents active in several areas of South Tangerang.

The spread of volcanic ash following the eruption poses a potential threat to respiratory health, particularly for those working outdoors and users of public transportation.

A total of 1,180 masks were distributed across various locations in South Tangerang, including Jurangmangu Station and several areas along Jalan Raya Bintaro.

Rumah Zakat volunteers targeted cleaning services, online motorcycle taxi drivers, commuters, and residents who were still active without wearing masks. Masks were also distributed around the Rumah Zakat Bintaro office at Ruko Victorian Bintaro.

In addition to the general public, mask assistance was provided to residents and firefighters in the Ciputat area, specifically in the Pisangan, East Ciputat region, which had previously experienced a vacant land fire. Masks were also given to several educational institutions and communities in South Tangerang, including the Raudlatul Makfufin Islamic Boarding School for the Visually Impaired and KB PAUD Al-Qur’an Al-Ihsan.

This action is part of Rumah Zakat’s commitment to responding to community needs amidst post-eruption conditions. Similar responses have been implemented by Rumah Zakat in several other regions as an effort to help the public cope with the impact of volcanic ash.

One of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the assistance provided. “Thank you, Rumah Zakat, for distributing masks to us. There has been quite a lot of dust lately, especially since I am active outdoors every day. These masks are very helpful for protecting my breathing. I hope Rumah Zakat and the donors are always granted health and blessings,” said one resident.

This activity was carried out through the support and trust of Rumah Zakat donors. The smiles and gratitude from the beneficiaries serve as motivation for Rumah Zakat to continue its movement, remaining present within the community to spread benefits to those in need.
