JAKARTA — The ruling on the case of alleged violations in technology-based money lending services (online loans or pinjol) will soon be read out, amid scrutiny over the direction of competition in Indonesia’s fintech industry.

The Commission for the Supervision of Business Competition (KPPU) is scheduled to read the Ruling of Case No. 05/KPPU-I/2025 regarding alleged violations of Article 5 of Law No. 5 of 1999 on Thursday (26/3/2026) in Jakarta.

KPPU Chairman M. Fanshurullah Asa said the handling of the case has now entered its final stage.

“Currently, it has entered the final stage of the Commission Panel Deliberation,” he stated in a written remark on Tuesday (24/3/2026).

He explained that during the examination process, the Commission Panel has examined various parties and collected and thoroughly analysed evidence, including through requests for data and information from relevant parties.

“This step is part of the principle of prudence to ensure that every ruling has a strong, objective, and accountable basis,” he added.

The Panel understands that every institution has its own internal mechanisms and governance in providing information. Therefore, active and constructive communication continues to be conducted to expedite the resolution of data requests.

According to KPPU, timely support of data and information from all stakeholders is an important factor in strengthening the quality of law enforcement, especially in cases concerning the financial technology-based industry.

Fanshurullah emphasised that the ruling will still be based on all the evidence that has been obtained and tested in the trial, before the deadline for reading the ruling in accordance with applicable legal provisions.

The Panel assures that the ruling taken will reflect legal certainty, a sense of justice, and integrity in the litigation process.

Any additional relevant developments, according to him, will be considered proportionally without disrupting the schedule for reading the ruling.

“KPPU remains committed to maintaining good institutional relations with all work partners, within the framework of mutual respect for each party’s authority and role, to support an effective and credible law enforcement system,” he concluded.
