Rujak Seller's Modus Operandi Unmasked: Kebon Jeruk Child Molestation Suspect Identified
West Jakarta police have uncovered the modus operandi of a rujak seller in Kebon Jeruk who allegedly molested a primary school girl. Investigators say the suspect, a 50-year-old neighbour, had known the victim since she was five and parents frequently entrusted her to him because they returned home late from work. According to the suspect’s confession, the abuse occurred four times at different locations from 2022 to March 2026. The case came to light after the victim’s friend informed a teacher, identified by the initial D, on 12 May 2026; the teacher notified the mother, S, who reported the matter to the West Jakarta Police. The suspect was previously subjected to mob action at his home on Jalan Guji Baru, Duri Kepa, on the night of 13 May, an incident that circulated on social media before police intervened and took him into custody. Police are continuing to investigate; the victim has undergone medical examination and a forensic autopsy to complete the investigation file. The suspect faces charges under child protection law and could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison.
