Rubio: US Military Directly Monitoring Lebanon Ceasefire

Washington (ANTARA) - US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on Thursday that the US military is directly monitoring the implementation of the ceasefire in Lebanon, coordinating alongside the Lebanese and Israeli armed forces.

“CENTCOM (US Central Command) is now working not only with the Israeli military command, but also with the Lebanese military command,” Rubio told reporters.

“Whenever an incident occurs, we do not merely accept reports from other parties. We can see the incident directly and assess and measure what is actually happening,” he added.

Rubio is currently conducting a visit to several Middle Eastern countries to discuss various regional issues.

Israel and the Lebanese armed group, Hezbollah, have reportedly reached a ceasefire agreement scheduled to take effect on 19 June 2026.

However, on the same day, a Lebanese military field source told RIA Novosti that Israel is continuing airstrikes in southern Lebanon.

Both nations are currently undergoing a new round of US-mediated negotiations in Washington from 23–25 June 2026.
