Rubio: US has no plans to continue military strikes on Iran
Washington - US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has told allied countries that the US Government currently has no plans to launch new military strikes against Iran. According to a report by news portal Axios citing a US official, Rubio stressed that going forward the US Government will focus more on using other pressure instruments against the Iranian Government, including the imposition of sanctions. Based on Axios’s analysis, the change in strategy signals that US President Donald Trump is tired of the war effort against Iran and wants the conflict to be brought to an end soon. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Monday (24/8) announced new sanctions against Iran targeting five key economic sectors of the country, namely aviation, shipping, technology, gold, and digital assets. The US also imposed sanctions on more than 60 entities, individuals, and vessels linked to Iran.
