Celebrity Ruben Samuel Onsu (RSO) has asked South Jakarta Metropolitan Police investigators to postpone his examination as a suspect in an alleged investment fraud or embezzlement case until next week.

Head of Public Relations of the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police, AKP Joko Adi Wibowo, said the request was submitted in writing to investigators on Thursday (27/8).

“Yesterday RSO, through his legal counsel, sent a letter to the Criminal Investigation Unit which essentially submitted a request for postponement of the examination,” he explained on Friday (28/8).

Joko said that as a result, the examination originally scheduled for today had to be postponed. In the letter, he said, Ruben cited the need to prepare documents to be submitted to investigators.

“For the rescheduling, he requested time of up to one week, namely Friday 4 September,” he said.

He added that his office would not yet carry out a forced pick-up because Ruben remains cooperative.

“Throughout the process from the initial investigation stage to the current inquiry, the person concerned has been cooperative. So that is also permitted,” he said.

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police is known to have named Ruben as a suspect in a case of alleged fraud and embezzlement. Ruben is charged under Article 492 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 486 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 618 of the Criminal Code.

The case involving Ruben originated from police report number LP310/VIII/2025/SPKT/Polres Jakarta Selatan dated 22 August 2025. The report was filed by a person with the initials P, and the victim is DM.

Based on the report, Ruben allegedly offered the victim an investment opportunity. In short, the victim agreed because he was promised a number of profits.

“The chronology is that the reported party has a business, then offered the victim the opportunity to invest funds. The victim was then interested in carrying out the agreement between the victim and the reported party,” said Head of Public Relations of the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police, AKP Joko Adi Wibowo, to reporters on Thursday (20/8).

However, by the agreed time, Ruben had apparently still not provided the profits he had promised to the victim.

“When the agreed time arrived, it turned out the profits had not been received and the capital had also not been returned. In relation to that, the victim reported this incident to the South Jakarta Police,” said Joko.

Joko said investigators would next schedule Ruben’s examination in his capacity as a suspect for the following week. However, Joko did not disclose whether the summons for examination had already been issued.

“Yesterday we only just named him as a suspect, so of course we will arrange to summon him in his status as a suspect. We will likely schedule the examination next week,” he said.
