Ruben Onsu Named Suspect in Alleged Fraud and Embezzlement Case
South Jakarta Metropolitan Police have named celebrity Ruben Onsu a suspect in an alleged fraud and embezzlement case.
Head of Public Relations for South Jakarta Metropolitan Police, AKP Joko Adi Wibowo, said the decision to name Ruben a suspect was based on the results of a case review conducted by investigators from the Criminal Investigation Unit of South Jakarta Metropolitan Police.
“A few days ago a case review was held, and from that review, the participants agreed that the reported party, Mr RSO, should have his status changed to suspect. A letter of determination as suspect was then issued,” Joko told reporters on Thursday (20/8).
Joko explained that the case originated from police report number LP310/VIII/2025/SPKT/Polres Jakarta Selatan dated 22 August 2025. The report was filed by an individual with the initials P, and the victim is DM.
According to the report, Ruben offered the victim an investment opportunity. The victim was attracted because a number of profits were promised.
“The victim was then interested in carrying out the agreement between the victim and the reported party. An agreement was then made whereby the victim handed over a sum of capital, with a promised profit arrangement,” Joko said.
“When the agreed time arrived, the profits had not been received and the capital had also not been returned. Regarding that, the victim reported the incident to South Jakarta Police,” he continued.
Joko said investigators would soon summon Ruben for questioning in his capacity as a suspect. However, he could not yet confirm when the examination of Ruben would take place.
“We only just named him as a suspect yesterday, so of course we will schedule a summons for him in his status as suspect. We will likely schedule the examination next week,” he said.
There has been no statement from Ruben Onsu’s side regarding this case. Meanwhile, Ruben’s lawyer, Minola Sebayang, admitted he was not yet aware of this information.
He said he was currently in Surabaya and asked reporters to contact Ruben directly.
Minola has been Ruben’s lawyer in the case involving Ruben and his ex-wife, Sarwendah. It is not yet known whether he is also Ruben’s lawyer in this case.
