SOUTH TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com — Rubbish piled up in Duren Village Complex, Pedurenan, Karang Tengah, Tangerang City, on Thursday (26/3/2026). According to several residents, the rubbish at this location has been accumulating since the first day of Eid until now. Plastic bags containing food waste, cardboard, and other household waste overflowed to the right side of the road for about 10 metres. In addition, maggots and leachate water emerged from the rubbish piles, making the surrounding area muddy and dirty. Residents complained about this condition as it was deemed to disrupt breathing, especially during the rainy season. One of them was expressed by Madura stall guard, Ronal (24). He claimed that since the first day of Eid, he had not seen any cleaning officers coming, so the rubbish continued to pile up. “Since yesterday, no one has cleaned it, so rubbish from everywhere piles up here. This is just being cleaned,” said Ronal when met by Kompas.com at the location on Thursday. According to Ronal, usually the rubbish is collected every morning by officers. However, during the Eid moment, he suspected many officers were on holiday. As a result, the volume of rubbish continued to increase along with the increased activities of residents during the Idul Fitri holiday, from food waste to plastic packaging. He hopes that cleaning officers will soon return to routinely collect the rubbish so that the environmental conditions do not worsen further. “If left alone, it could get worse, especially since this is near the road. The smell spreads everywhere,” he said.
