TANGERANG - Rubbish collection in Tangerang City experienced delays during the 2026 Eid holiday period, one of which occurred in Duren Village Complex, Pedurenan, Karang Tengah.

The Head of the Tangerang City Environmental Agency (DLH), Wawan Fauzi, stated that the delays were triggered because the rubbish transport fleet did not operate at full capacity during the Eid holiday period.

“The volume of waste during Idul Fitri increased in that housing complex; our fleet operated at 80 percent, resulting in collection delays,” said Wawan Fauzi when confirmed by Kompas.com on Thursday (26/3/2026).

He explained that, in addition to the fleet limitations, cleaning staff were on a staggered holiday system, which impacted the waste collection process.

“It was only since yesterday that our members have returned to normal on their duty routes,” he said.

Based on Kompas.com’s observations at the location, four workers were seen transporting rubbish using one DLH Tangerang City truck parked near the site.

The rubbish will later be taken to the Rawa Kucing Final Disposal Site (TPA).

The truck appeared filled with rubbish wrapped in black, white, and red plastic bags.

The workers transported the rubbish in stages, using gloves and boot shoes to protect themselves while working.

The piles consisted of organic and inorganic waste, such as food scraps, plastic packaging, and used cardboard.

The condition of the uncollected rubbish also caused environmental impacts. Maggots were visible in some areas, especially on wet waste, along with flies buzzing around the location.

A pungent smell was still detectable up to about 50 metres from the rubbish pile point.

“Today, we are trying to resolve it,” said Wawan Fauzi.

The collected rubbish will first be processed at the Tangerang City Government’s processing facilities before being taken to the TPA.

“We carry out processing at facilities such as TPS3R, ITF, and RDF before it is processed at the TPA,” he said.
