Rubbish piles along the banks of Saguling Reservoir in Rancapanggung Village, Cililin District, West Bandung Regency, West Java, are being cleared. The waste has been polluting the environment and threatening the Java-Bali electricity supply produced by the Saguling Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA Saguling).

West Bandung Deputy Regent Asep Ismail stated that his administration has deployed ten dump truck units to remove the accumulated rubbish along the reservoir banks, which residents have long complained about for contaminating the water and causing a pungent odour.

“The rubbish piled up along the Saguling Reservoir will be transported and resolved immediately,” Asep said at the site on Thursday (7/5/2026).

In addition to the transport vehicles, the West Bandung Regency Government has mobilised one excavator unit, loaned from Indonesia Power, to accelerate the cleaning process for the towering waste piles at several points along the banks. Asep explained the reasons why the rubbish accumulations near Rancapanggung Market have not been removed for so long. Limitations in facilities and budget have been the factors hindering the handling of waste from the Saguling Reservoir banks.

“The causes are not only the travel distance, but also budget efficiency and limited fleet. This is what we are currently pursuing from the Provincial Government for fleet grants,” Asep said.
