Rubbish Piles at Kramat Jati Main Market Targeted for Clearance by Friday
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Perumda Pasar Jaya targets the handling of rubbish piles at Pasar Induk Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, to be completed within the next three days, namely on Friday (10/4). “Insha Allah, it will be finished in the next three days. On Friday (10/4), we target all handling to be completed,” said the Director General of Perumda Pasar Jaya, Agus Himawan, at Pasar Pal Meriam, Matraman, East Jakarta, on Wednesday. This target is a follow-up to the deadline given by the Governor of DKI Jakarta regarding the acceleration of waste issues in the capital’s largest market area. Agus assured that his side, together with the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency (DLH), continues to work intensively to resolve the problem. He is optimistic that the cleaning process can be completed according to the set target. In the acceleration effort, Pasar Jaya deploys dozens of waste transport fleets every day. Agus explained that on average, there are about 40 truckloads of waste transport per day. With that capacity, the volume of waste successfully transported reaches around 600 to 700 tonnes every day. “Alhamdulillah, we are working hand in hand with the Environmental Agency. Almost 40 truckloads every day. That equals 600 to 700 tonnes of waste that we transport,” he stated. In addition to transporting waste to processing sites, Pasar Jaya is also preparing long-term solutions to address similar problems so they do not recur. One effort being prepared is the operation of an incinerator machine or waste burning machine in the market area. However, Agus mentioned that the equipment is currently still in the trial stage. “That’s still on trial. We will announce it soon once it starts operating,” said Agus. According to Agus, the presence of this incinerator is part of Pasar Jaya’s grand plan to realise a self-sufficient waste management system in the markets under its management. With this system, it is hoped that the volume of waste that must be transported to the final disposal site can be significantly reduced. Not only focusing on short-term handling, Pasar Jaya is also committed to building a more sustainable system to maintain the cleanliness and comfort of the market environment. With the target completion in three days, Pasar Jaya hopes that the condition of Pasar Induk Kramat Jati can return to normal, so that food distribution activities and community economic activities are not disrupted. Previously, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung Wibowo, instructed Pasar Jaya to make the markets in the capital cleaner and more comfortable for the public. “I have asked the Director General (of Pasar Jaya) hopefully all these markets can really be cleaner, tidier, and the public can enjoy it,” said Pramono in the Kemayoran area, Central Jakarta, on Monday (6/4). Furthermore, Pramono highlighted that rubbish accumulation in markets like in Kramat Jati should not recur. For that, he emphasised that this issue should be resolved quickly, so that the market atmosphere becomes cleaner and more comfortable.
