Rubbish Piles at Kopro Market Cleared, Transportation Returns to Normal
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The mounds of rubbish that had piled up in the area beside Pasar Tomang Barat or Pasar Kopro, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, are no longer visible on Wednesday (1/4/2026).
Based on Kompas.com’s observations at the site on Wednesday afternoon, the rubbish piles that previously filled the temporary disposal site (LPS) have been cleared.
A large truck was seen parked in the area to transport the rubbish to the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST).
In addition to serving as a temporary disposal site, the area is also used as a depot for rubbish cart fleets that collect household waste.
The rubbish collected at the LPS is then transported to Bantargebang at night.
A banner there prohibits littering in accordance with DKI Jakarta Regional Regulation No. 3 of 2013 on Waste Management.
“Prohibited from dumping rubbish wildly and burning rubbish carelessly. Violators will be fined or forced payment up to Rp500,000,” the banner states.
“Alhamdulillah, now it’s back to normal because Bantargebang has also been opened, so we can send from here again; yesterday we couldn’t, so it piled up,” said Alif when met by Kompas.com at the site on Wednesday.
According to Alif, the handling of the rubbish piles in the Pasar Kopro area has been completed since Tuesday afternoon (31/3/2026).
Under normal conditions, one fleet of trucks is dispatched every day to Bantargebang to transport residents’ rubbish, preventing accumulation at the site.
“The system here should depart every day, so if it’s safe there (Bantargebang), it’s impossible for it to pile up here. Insyaallah, it won’t pile up like yesterday in the future; it’s normal now,” Alif explained.
