Rubbish Pile One Metre High Overflows at TPS3R Taman Sari, West Jakarta, Narrowing Roads
Jakarta — A pile of rubbish approximately one metre high has overflowed outside the Hanura Waste Processing Facility for Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (TPS3R) on Jalan Hanura Ketapang, Krukut, Taman Sari, West Jakarta, on Saturday (14 March 2026).
According to observations by Kompas.com on site, the rubbish accumulation extends beyond the TPS3R entrance, snaking up the Kali Krukut Tanah Sereal bridge for approximately 50 metres.
The pile has consumed roughly half the available road width on the bridge, approximately five metres of the available road space.
This situation frequently triggers vehicle queues, as many drivers are reluctant to yield when passing on the narrowed road.
Beyond causing traffic jams, the accumulated rubbish is often carried by vehicle wheels and scattered as far as residents’ homes in the surrounding area.
A waste transporter named Jupri, aged 45, stated that conditions at TPS3R Hanura have been overflowing for approximately one week.
“It’s because of trouble at Bantargebang, it’s been about a week like this,” he said when interviewed by Kompas.com on site on Saturday.
He explained that a landslide at the Integrated Waste Treatment Facility (TPST) Bantargebang some time ago reduced the number of waste collection trucks from TPS3R Hanura.
Previously, three trucks regularly transported waste from the location daily. However, over the past week, only one truck has been operating.
