Residents near the temporary waste collection point (TPS) in Uka Koja Complex, Koja, North Jakarta, state that rubbish at the TPS piles up due to a shortage of waste transport trucks. Resident Suntoro (40) said that rubbish at the TPS always remains even after collection. “It always leaves remnants. I check and it’s always remnants, remnants,” Suntoro remarked when met at the location on Wednesday (1/4/2026). “There should at least be three large ones. If small, then five,” he added. According to him, this condition causes rubbish to accumulate again in a short time, even spreading to the road surface. Another resident, Lia (35), also noted that rubbish at the TPS fills up quickly despite recent collection. “Yesterday, on Monday, it was collected, Tuesday it was full again until today, Wednesday,” Lia stated. Even the trucks for collecting rubbish have not arrived until late afternoon today. “They say the vehicle is coming but it hasn’t arrived, it’s already a mess like this,” she said. The rubbish accumulation is triggered by dumping from outside Uka Complex, including off-schedule disposals. Previously reported, piles of rubbish at the TPS in Uka Koja have overflowed, covering the road surface. The types of rubbish piling up vary, from food waste, plastics, wood, to damaged used mattresses. At the location, there are seven green rubbish carts in full condition, left piled up in the TPS area.
