Rubber mixed in KL and Jakarta
Rubber mixed in KL and Jakarta
KUALA LUMPUR (Reuter): Malaysian rubber prices ended the week
mixed after adjusting to the fluctuations of a battered ringgit
and rupiah, local traders said yesterday.
Buying of the SMR20 and other selected SMR grades by agents
covering earlier sales to foreign clients helped keep prices
steady, said traders.
At the close, the benchmark RSS1 for September buyer was
officially priced at 250.50 cents (90 cents U.S.), down half cent
from Thursday's close. The SMR20 for September buyer was quoted a
cent up at 250 cents a kg.
Meanwhile in Jakarta, Indonesian tire-grade SIR20 offer prices
were stable in late trading yesterday with rupiah movements the
main issue in the market, traders said.
They said a deal was done overnight at 42 U.S. cents/lb fob
Palembang for October shipment and at 42.25 fob Medan.
Offer prices were quoted at 43 fob Medan for November
shipment, 41.50 fob Padang, Pontianak and Jambi for September
shipment and 42 fob Surabaya. Traders offered rubber at 42 fob
Surabaya.
